Trio In Contention for Young Sports Star Prize

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the this year's Young Sports Star of the Year award.

The three finalists have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang helped the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The three contenders were announced live on a popular morning radio program.

The 2025 recipient will be revealed live on the Sports Personality of the Year show on the 18th of December.

The show will be televised from 19:00 GMT.

The Football Star

A mere three months after her international debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She came off the bench to score key tying goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the top young European talent.

She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

The Darts Prodigy

Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - at just 17 years old - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

And he wasn't finished there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, shattering the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a highlight for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and rose to fame with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the season's run tally and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it motivates more young women to get into cricket."
