The Two Fatalities Identified in Brown University Shooting as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

Two students who died in the weekend's mass shooting at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their shooter continued following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies online, remarking: “There are no words. Remembering her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

What Happened

Nine other people were injured in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 arrested in a police operation at a hotel about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

The gunman opened fire inside a classroom in the engineering facility on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a law enforcement official reported to the media outlet.

Law enforcement that entered the inn seized two firearms and magazines when the individual was arrested, the news agency reported.

The Wounded Victims

Among those wounded, one pupil was allowed to go home, said Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and schoolmates and grieve for of his promising future.”
