The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration Over Size Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.

Social Media Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.

Measurement Approach Updates

Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
