Ahead of marking his half-decade plus one year in charge, Mikel Arteta has made it clear that his future at Arsenal is directly connected to winning major honors.

The former Arsenal captain took over on December 20th, 2019 and managed to steer the team to an FA Cup victory within months. However, that early success is still his lone significant piece of silverware since succeeding Unai Emery.

“Yes,” he stated upon being asked about remaining in charge after his current deal. “But it’s about today. And many things have to happen in the near future as well to warrant that continuation.”
