Elite Athletes Appeal on Iranian Authorities to Halt Execution of Boxing Star

More than two dozen Olympic medal winners, mentors and other global sports figures have signed a letter demanding a stop to the death penalty of a boxing champion and coach, who is facing execution in the nation.

Increasing Global Anger

During increasing global condemnation over the country's increasing application of the death penalty as a tool of oppression, the strongly worded statement denounces the government's decision to uphold the death sentence of the boxing champion.
